ADHD stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. A disorder characterized by a persistent pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivity/impulsivity that occurs in academic, occupational, or social settings. Not to complicate much, it simply means not being able to concentrate on anything in particular due to hyperactivity.
All these days, there was no such correlation seen between ADHD and sleep problems. However now, according to various researches, a sure short connection is seen between the two. People with ADHD also tend to have rhythm sleep problems. ADHD and sleeplessness can be seen as two sides of the same coin. Researchers also prove this with facts, such as – many sleep related disorders are associated with ADHD, including difficulty in sleeping on time, people with ADHD are more active in evening unlike general population.
Some also show a unique sign of wearing sunglasses till late that happens because of over sensitivity of the eyes to light. While researchers are finding the correlation between the two, thought provoking issue is to know whether ADHD leads to sleeplessness or vices versa. Most important thing is to take charge of noting any change in the physiological pattern of people. May be an early notice helps in avoiding the disorder completely.
