October: Best Month to Watch the Super moon

12 Oct 16

According to the expert 16th October is going to be the best day to watch the full moon along with other planets such as Venus, Saturn and Mars. Astronomers also suggested to the sky-watchers that evening is the best time to see other planets as Jupiter can be seen in the early morning.

According to the claim Mercury will also appear low near the eastern horizon till the second week of October. It is true that the moon orbits around the Earth and this time on 16th October moon will reach on the opposite side of the Earth.

This time the Moon will be at its full size and will also illuminate completely. The astronomers have also said that, this Super moon will be comparatively brighter and bigger. As per the researchers Super moon can be expected to be approximately 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter than a typical full moon.

Additionally the scientist also added that October will see the rise of winter Hexagon that is created from six brightest stars. This hexagon shows the approach of winter season for the Northern hemisphere. That is the reason the Hexagon is known as a winter hexagon.

Water and Electricity to Convert CO2 to CO

20 Oct 17

Carbon monoxide (CO) is a gas that is colourless, odourless, and tasteless. It is toxic to both invertebrate and vertebrate, including humans when encountered in a big quantity; although, it has also some good features. It is present in the atmosphere, having a short life. Researchers have developed the technique to know how electro-catalysts can convert carbon dioxide to carbon monoxide using only water and electricity.

The electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide to fuels is a subject of greater interest of researchers because it shows a way for storing electricity from natural energy resources. A multi-scale model that unites a quantum-chemical analysis of reaction pathway; and a continuum model for transport of species in the electrolyte have been developed. The model is to learn how carbon dioxide can be electrochemically reduced through a catalyst, using silver, and converted into carbon monoxide. It is needed by the scientists to first get the electronic and quantum levels, which is a challenging task in the presence of an electric field.

As carbon monoxide and hydrogen are product gases and are insoluble in aqueous electrolytes, they can be separated as synthesis gas very easily and converted into fuels such as methanol, dimethyl ether, or as a mixture of hydrocarbons. Gold and silver reflects the highest activity towards CO2 reduction, and silver being cheaper and abundant than gold, it is the more promising electro-catalyst for large-scale production of carbon monoxide.

Sea Creatures in Japan Crossed Pacific Ocean after Tsunami

19 Oct 17

The lofty Tsunami that destructed Japan six years ago unleashed a different danger onto the distant coastline of North America. The new threat is the massive invasion of marine life from the Pacific Ocean.

According to a new study published in the Science, hundreds of species from the coastal waters of Japan, mostly invertebrates such as mussels, sea anemones and crabs were carried across the Pacific. They were present on huge amounts of unsettled debris that was generated by the disaster. It was less than a year and a half when the huge earthquake and tsunami struck Japan on 11th March, 2011. This tsunami left more than 18,000 people dead or missing. The debris travelled onto the shores of Canada and the United States.

The whole of the debris was found to be covered with sea creatures. The main findings of the study reported that the mass migration was a result of not only huge natural disaster but also due to changes in human behavior.

Black Tea for Weight Loss

18 Oct 17

Today we are living in a very fast world where everything is fast, whether it is traffic or our food. Obesity is the result of our wrong food habits, lifestyle, working pattern and sleeping behaviour. People go through a tough pain while attempting to reduce their weight by exercising. The medicines that challenge to reduce the weight in a few days, weeks or months, also have so many side effects. The researchers of UCLA have demonstrated that black tea may be effective in weight loss and provide in other health benefits by changing bacteria in the Intestine. After a research done on mice, the scientists proved that black tea circulates energy metabolism in the liver by changing gut metabolites of our body. The recent results show that black tea polyphenols are too large to be absorbed in the small intestine, and thus, it stimulates the growth of gut bacterium. They also help in the formation of short-chain fatty acids that alters the energy metabolism in the liver of the person. It is also said that green tea also helps in weight loss as its polyphenols are more effective and give more health benefits than black tea. Green tea is more effective as its chemicals are absorbed into the blood and tissue. Black tea and green tea both induce the growth of good microorganisms that contribute to a person's good health.

High Levels of Anabolic Steroid can Lead to Stock Market Instability

17 Oct 17

United States has been found with majority of professional stock market traders who are young males. The new evidence suggested that the biology constituting a person strongly influences their trading behavior. The new study highlighted the consequences of it and told that it can lead to fluctuations in the market.

High anabolic steroid levels can cause traders to overestimate future stock values. It can really lead to dangerous question marks on prices and subsequent crashes. The study was conducted by Amos Nadler of the Ivey Business School at Western University, Peiran Jiao of the University of Oxford, Paul Zak and Veronika Alexander of the Center for Neuroeconomics Studies at Claremont Graduate University and Cameron Johnson at the Behavioral Health Institute at Loma Linda. The study was titled “The Bull of Wall Street: Experimental Analysis of Testosterone and Asset Trading.” Larger prices bubbles were formed amongst the group receiving high anabolic steroid.

Scientists Discovered Planets from Different Perspective

16 Oct 17

As per the old belief all the planets in our solar system look similar beneath the surface. However, scientists have revealed different facts related to the earlier belief. A per the scientists, “the mantle of the Earth is made mostly of a mineral called olivine additionally, the assumption is usually there that states all planets are like the Earth," said Jay Melosh, Distinguished Professor of Earth.

The recent study by scientists shows that “when we look at the spectral signature of rocks exposed deep below the moon's surface, we don't see olivine”.

The scientists added, 4 billion years ago, an asteroid collided with the moon and created the largest and deepest impact on the moon. This collision called the South Pole-Aitken basin. The collision exposed lunar mantle in the basin and splashed up material onto the far side of the moon.

For the study, the research team created a three-dimensional simulation of the asteroid's collision with the moon to make sure they were looking for the splashed material in the right place.
