RBI Clarifies Suspicion Surrounding the Validity of Rs. 10 Coins

23 Jan 18

The Indian 10-rupee coin is a denomination of the Indian rupee. It is the highest-denomination coin minted in India since 2005. The first 10 coin was minted in the year 2005.

It had a diameter of 27 mm. The coin featured "भारत" and "INDIA" on the top, lion capital with 'Satyameva Jayate' below at left, and the date of minting on the obverse. The second design was introduced in 2009. It featured two horizontal lines, the lettering "भारत" and "INDIA" on the top, the lion capital in the middle and year of printing on the obverse. The third design was brought up in 2011 which featured the lettering "भारत" on left and "INDIA" on right on the outer ring, and the year of mint and mint mark below. The lion capital was situated at the centre with the lettering "सत्यमेव जयते" below it. Currently, 10 coin in circulation is from the 2011 design of the coin. In July 2016, as a result of some rumors on social media, traders and shopkeepers stopped accepting the 10 coin entirely. They stated that these coins are fake and lack the '' symbol. In order to clarify the suspicion, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on January 17, 2018, declared that all the 14 designs of Rs. 10 coin are valid and legal tender for transactions. These coins have varying features which symbolize different themes of economic, social and cultural values. The RBI has also instructed banks to accept these coins in their daily transactions.

New 5- Planet Solar System.

22 Jan 18

In 2007, NASA launched a satellite named “Kepler” a space telescope to hunt planets and its first mission was to search for exoplanet in November 2012.  Kepler monitors the brightness of stars, and then scientists study the data and search for the winks for that light- the tell-tale sign of an orbiting planet.

But in 2013 scientists couldn’t able to direct the telescope instruments, which lead to end the mission. Then, engineers recover the telescope by designing a second mission dubbed K2 and then the information of 280,000 stars was gathered by it. So, Kepler had a lot of information and it was difficult for scientists to work on, although they needed to identify the stars, then they called citizen scientists to help Exoplanet Explorers, hosted on the Zooniverse platform. Citizen Scientists found the five-planet system in April, just after Exoplanet Explorers launched and immediately an astronomer confirmed about the system and of 4 planets and 5th as a possibility. The solar system’s planets are like sub Neptune planets, which have 1.3 and 3.3 times the radius of earth but not smaller than Neptune. This K2-138 system is interesting to scientists as each planet takes about 50% longer to orbit than the next closest planet to the star. The planets orbit is called a resonance chain.

Giving More Human Touch to Conversational Agents

19 Jan 18

Scientists always look for discovering new Conversational agents so that they make the communication easier. Conversational agents, such as Alexa from Amazon, have now become a common name that can chat with us.

Modern Robots, too, can have conversational abilities like that of Pepper by Softbank and Jibo by Jibo Inc. Robotics researchers try to make communication easier and smoother between robots and humans. They try to give the robots a human touch by putting human behavior in them like eye gaze and head tilt behaviors. Scientists from Ewha Womans University in Seoul and the Korean Institute of Robot and Convergence did an experiment by putting three robots in a dusty environment. Participants found the coughing robot as more humanlike and lifelike, than two other robots that did not react in this way. In another test three robots were running out of battery. One of them informed about the battery, the second robot didn’t react. The third robot made a reflexive body noise. The participants rated the third robot as more humanlike and more lifelike than other two. This study reflected that people consider robots that express physical reactions in the given situations as behaving more naturally than verbal communication or their no-reaction activity. The reason behind considering that is action speaks louder than words. The natural reaction made by those robots suggests that they are affected by the situation as a human would be in the similar situation.
