A Call from Asian Champions Trophy

Team India is hopping for the best performance in the upcoming Asian Champions Trophy. It might be unfortunate for the Indian women hockey team to face a defeat in Rio Olympics. But this time the Asian Championship trophy is calling the team India to pack their bags for Singapore.

The Asian Championship Trophy is to be played in Singapore from end of this month. As per the reports the team has announced its new captain. Vandana Katariya has been finalized for the team’s captain. Former captain Sushila Chanu has been omitted and defender Sunita Lakra has named as the vice captain of the 18-member Indian women hockey squad.

Coach Neil Hawgood said, “The team will perform their best and will put their best efforts in Asian Champions Trophy”. The coach has also added that the team has completed the training at SAI, Bhopal for the past three weeks and ready for a fresh start.

The team has played against Netherland, Germany, Spain and others in Rio that has given much experience to them, said Neil Hawgood. The fourth edition of the Asian Championship Trophy is starting from October 29 at Singapore, as per the reports.
