First Two ODIs will not See Kusal Perera

Wicketkeeper – batsman Kusal Perera had a hamstring strain during a warm up match in Colombo on 22nd March, 2016. Thus, he has been ruled out of the first two ODIs against Bangladesh. This is confirmed by Sri Lanka’s Cricket Manager Asanka Gurusinha.

Gurusinha said that the strain to his left thigh was a “very minor” one. There was a chance Kusal could be fit enough to play in the second ODI in Dambulla on March 28. But the selectors kept Kusal in Colombo and the team travelled to Dambulla. Kusal will rejoin the squad after third ODI at SSC on 1st April, 2017. The only condition of joining is his expected recovery.

Kusal suffered a lean run of scores during his Zimbabwe tour in October. Kusal worked to bring up some form in his last three competitive innings. The injury timing is unlucky for Kusal. The first three ODIs were played on 25th March, 2017.
