Global Warming a Cause for Waterborne Diseases

A new study has found the link between global warming and rise of ‘waterborn diseases’. The scientists have mentioned that rising temperatures can be the reason behind the growth of vibrio- infections.

Warterborn diseases that include food poisoning, fatigue and weight loss are caused by pathogenic micro-organisms, which most commonly transmitted in infected water. Vibrio-infection is caused by vibrio parahaemolyticus bacteria that occur naturally in warm coastal areas.

The researchers have stated that people are falling sick from eating raw or undercooked sea food or drinking and from swimming in infected water. Beside this the study led by researcher shows an extraordinary wave of vibro illeness from swimming in northern Europe during heat waves in 1994, 1997, 2003, 2006, and 2010.

An international team of Scientists have researched on the huge database of copepod and DNA to monitor the pervasiveness of vibrio bacteria inside the waterways around the world.
