India played its first game against Lebanon in Beirut on 23rd November and then they had to go to Syria on 26th November at SreeKanteerava Indoor Stadium in Bengaluru. The team had only one month coaching camp which was held at Sree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium, and was supervised by head coach Zoran Visic along with three assistant coaches. Then there was finalised listing of 12 players out of 33 best players from all over the country that participated in the camp, who represented India at the World Cup qualifiers. Akilan Pari was the captain of Indian Team. There were 16 teams participating in the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers. Each team faced all the three teams in their group twice on a home. After the first round was over, top 3 teams from each group was approved to play in the second round, then 7 teams were qualified for the FIBA World Cup.
