Instagram plans to launch long-form video on 20th June

Instagram invites reporters to attend their special event on 20th June where they will evolve the app from social media to just ‘Media’ and also providing the users to view longer mobile sessions away from YouTube and Snapchat Discover.

Instagram is bringing various changes to the application where the creators can upload 4K, full screen and vertically oriented videos which will be much longer than the current 60-second video limit. They are also adding other feature to it which will curate sections of popular videos and an option to continue watching the video clips you were previously watching. Instagram is collaborating with social media stars and content houses as launch partners for the event on 20th June.

The quality of the videos should be mid-level which means approximate to the clips you see on YouTube from popular stars, shot from nice cameras but the quality won’t be like Netflix Originals and HBO. Link-Outs will also be provided for the users so that they can add links which will be visited by swiping up on the video and they can take their Instagram traffic to other websites and social presences.Along with it, Instagram is also planning on to let creators earn revenue through their long videos which has not been finalized till yet. YouTube provides pre-roll ads or mid-break commercials, the same way Instagram will allow users to earn revenue out of it. Instagram hit 600 million users in December 2016, in April 2017 it reached 700 million and 800 million in September 2017 which makes it possible for Instagram to announce their 1 billion user community that will help them in drawing attention of content creators.
