NASA Scientists Captured Images of Bizarre Trough on Mars

Scientists from NASA have captured rare pictures of growing spiders on the red planet. The image has been captured by NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) that shows small, erosion-carved cracks in Red Planet sand dunes.

The scientists have suggested that the features may be small versions of the similar-looking but larger Martian channel-networks that have been dubbed spiders. For the first time these small creatures have survived and extended with passing years, this is how the larger spiders get started, said the scientists.

The lead author of the study, Ganna Portyankina, of the University of Colorado Boulder stated about the in sand-dune areas. However, the researchers have denied the idea of whether these spiders will keep getting bigger or will disappear under moving sand.

The images have been taken with high Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) camera of MRO will help the scientists to chart the year-to-year growth of the potential baby spiders, said the experts.
