No Uniform Syllabus for CBSE and State Boards, Says Government

On Monday, Lok Sabha was informed that no proposal for a uniform syllabus in CBSE and state boards will be given by the government as it does not cater to the local issues such as culture and language.
"The common curriculum does not consider the local contexts such as culture and language, multiplicity of curricula and educational resources are desirable across the nation," said Prakash Javadekar.
During Question Hour, responding to a supplementary question, Minister of State for HRD, Upendra Kushwaha said, the national policy on education has given its proposal for a national framework of curriculum with common core values which include the history of the freedom struggle, constitutional movements and other content essential to cherish a national identity.
Some of the states have agreed to the national framework, said Kushwaha.
Efforts are on reduce the weight claiming that the government has been successful in its attempt, said Kushwaha replying to a question on the weight of the school bag.
