Sunil Chhetri: The Captain Fantastic

Sunil Chhetri is Indian Professional football player who plays as a striker for Indian club Bengaluru Fc and the Indian National Team. He is the most-capped player as well as all-time top goal scorer for Indian National Team. He has scored 64 goals in 101 appearances. Currently he is also the current captain of National Team.

Chhteri began his career as a footballer at Mohan Bagan in 2002. Thereafter he moved to JCT where he scored 21 goals in 48 games. He signed for the Kansas City Wizards of Major League Soccer in 2010, becoming the third player from the subcontinent of note to go abroad. However, that stint in the United States did not last long and soon he was back in India's I-League where he played for Chirag United and Mohun Bagan before going back abroad. This time he was signed by Sporting Clube de Portugal of the Primeira Liga where he played for the club's reserve side.  In a recent interview regarding next year’s Asian’s Cup Chhetri said: "I definitely feel so (play against top-10 ranked teams in Asia). It will be difficult to play against the top five as they are playing in the World Cup. But we need to play against teams better than us and that also away matches."
