TRAPPIST Telescope shows Characteristics of the Dwarf Star

A magazine called Astrobiology Magazine churning out stories from the past year. The Story of ‘Astronomers using the TRAPPIST telescope’ is number 5 in the list. Originally, the story was published on May 2, 2016. As per the reports, astronomers discovered three planets orbiting an ultra-cool dwarf star just 40 light-years from Earth. The astronomers used The TRAPPIST telescope at ESO’s La Silla Observatory for their project.

As per the scientists, these newly found stars are the first planets ever found around such a tiny and diffuse star. With the help of the Belgian TRAPPIST telescope, the scientists observed that this dim and star cool star faded a little at regular intervals, representing that various objects were passing between the star and the Earth.

After a deep research, the researchers came to know that three planets with similar sizes to the Earth were present. An ultra chilly dwarf star has been named as TRAPPIST-1 by the scientists. This dwarf star is much cooler than the Sun and barely larger than Jupiter, stated the scientists.
