Undersea Volcanism Triggered By Outpouring Magma

A graduate student, Yen Joe Tan, from Columbia University's Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory has recently analyzed a volcanic eruption at a mid-ocean ridge under the Pacific. As per the analysis, the scientists have observed that upwelling magma is responsible for the volcanic eruption. Additionally, the magma forces a critical pressure on the volcanoes and forces its way up, allowing the lava to spill out.

Moreover, the mid-ocean ridges are mountain chains that run endlessly for more than 40,000 miles along the planet's seafloors, stated the scientists. From centre the volcanoes discharge lava that forces the seafloor out in opposite ways from the ridges toward the continents. Additionally, mostly the leading edge of the seafloor dives beneath the land and is subsumed back into the deep earth.
