VIJAY KANNAN AND RANJEET IN SINGLES’ FINAL

In the State Bank of Patiala National grass court tennis championship, the single final is to be played between Vijay Kannan and V.M.Ranjeet. These two former National champions will battle at the Chandigarh club.
In the semi-finals, the 31-year-old Ranjeet had to put in effort to beat his opponent Suraj Prabodh 7-6 (1), 6-2. Whereas, the 36-year-old Vijay painlessly triumphed as his combatant Dalwinder Singh walked over due to a painful abdomen inflammation.
In the men doubles finals, the Armanaan Bhatia and Ishaque Eqbal team played against the Paran Pun and Hardeep Signh Sandhu duo. Arman Bhatia and Ishaque Eqbal won over. This is the second national level title bagged by this pair.
In the women semifinals, third seed Nidhi Chilumula tamed Sai Samhitha 0-6, 6-2, 6-1. She will battle Riya Bhatia, the top seed and reigning national hard court champion in the finals. The 19-year-old Riya tamed her opponent Aarushi Kakkar 6-0, 6-0, the unanticipated semifinalist who is a local trainee of Guruvarinder Sahota coach.
The women doubles was bagged by the Sai Samhitha and Amrita Mukherjee duo as the Nidhi Chilumula and Moulika Ram duo 6-2, 6-1 lost to them.
