Police Horse, Shaktiman’s Statue Pulled Down Before Inauguration

The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Harish Rawat, decided to pull down the statue of police horse Shaktiman, who was beaten at a rally in Dehradun and died a month later in April.

Two statues were put up in the state capital- one at the spot where he was buried, and another near the Assembly, at an intersection named after the animal. Both were supposed to be inaugurated in the third week of July, but instead, were taken down.

Prateek Mishrapuri, an astrologer from Haridwar said, “A Statue of a horse without a rider brings bad luck.” Both the Shaktiman statues were riderless.
