First Indian Player to be drafted into the NBA

Satnam Singh Bhamara is an Indian professional basketball player. He is a basketball player for the Texas Legends of the NBA G League. He was chosen with the 52nd overall pick in the 2015 draft by Dallas Mavericks and this event made him the first player from India to be drafted into the NBA. Singh plays the center position because of having 7 feet and 2 inches height along with 290 lb weight.

He was a high school basketball player at IMG Academy which is a private athletic training institute headquartered at Bradenton, Florida. He gained a lot of popularity in the media since he was as young as 14 years old. He was born on 10th December, 1995 in Ballo Ke, a village which is located in the Barnala district of Punjab, India. He participated a lot in youth leagues in Punjab and quickly began to suppress his opponents. When he was just 10 years old, his father urged for his enrollment into Ludhiana Basketball Academy (LBA). In this academy, he learnt his first basketball skills and drills from a former Punjab basketball coach and Sports Authority of India director, Dr Sankaran Subramanian.
