The BCCI Awards Night 2017 honoured Indian captain Virat Kohli and incredible off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin for their outstanding performances through the season.
Skipper Kohli won the Polly Umrigar award for best international player of 2015/16. He is the first cricketer to have received this award three times. Off-spinner Ashwin’s performance in the West Indies in 2016 won the CK Nayudu award for him. He took 17 wickets in four Tests, including a haul of 7/83 in North Sound.
Kohli is popular for his radical approach as the captain of the Indian cricket team. He strives to make the team outshine in all formats of cricket: one-day, T20 and test.
"It's been quite unbelievable the last 10 to 12 months. I am not bothered who thinks what. This is the attitude in dressing room. We learn to win together and lose together,” said Kohli in his acceptance speech.
