Home Science

Home Science is known to be subject which includes both science and art related field of study which draws upon many disciplines like chemistry, physics, physiology, biology, hygiene, economics, rural development, child development, sociology and family relations, community living, art, food, nutrition, clothing, textiles and home management. In a lay man language, it is a subject about home making and household chores. The home science studies deal with the most crucial aspects of modern house – keeping. 

Career Options

  • organizations or institutional canteens. The other path is to work for Government departments as programme consultants. Some people can even go to opt for work in home economics division of food and utility companies. Self-employment too provides good scope.

Dr. Uma Joshi

She is currently the dean of Faculty of Family and Community Sciences in The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara. Dr Anjali Karolia

She is the Head, Department of Clothing and Textiles, Faculty of Family and Community Sciences, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara. She has been awarded with Bharat Jyoti Award by India International Friendship Society for her meritorious service in education. She has guided over 30 masters and 4 doctoral dissertations.
