Paper engineering isthat branch of engineering which deals with the usage of physical science (e.g.chemistry and physics) and life sciences (e.g. biology and biochemistry) in combinationwith mathematics as applied to the alteration of raw materials into usefulpaper products and co-products. The field relates to a variety of principles inprocess of engineering and its unit operations to the manufacturing of paper,chemicals, energy and related materials.
Most engineers work in office buildings, laboratories, or industrial plants. Others may spend time outdoors at construction sites and oil and gas exploration and production sites, where they monitor or direct operations or solve onsite problems. Some engineers travel extensively to plants or worksites. Many engineers work a standard 40-hour week. At times, deadlines or design standards may bring extra pressure to a job, sometimes requiring engineers to work longer hours.
Raj Nakra is a chemical engineer from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT, Delhi) and MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM, Ahmedabad).
