CBSE Won Digital India Award For 'Exemplary Online Service'

Today, CBSE has got the Digital India Award under "Exemplary Online Service" category. This award was conferred upon the national school education regulator by the Union Minister for Law and Justice, Electronics and IT, Dr. Ravi Shankar Prasad. The IT team of CBSE received the award on behalf of the Chairperson of Central Board of Secondary Education, Anita Karwal.
CBSE has been awarded for the digital initiatives that it has undertaken recently. CBSE’s recent digital initiatives include Digi-locker, Centre Locator App, geo-tagged time-based tracking and monitoring of confidential materials, and many more. Apart from this, the CBSE also has hosted various educational materials and results on its official and affiliated websites.
The Exemplary Online Service Award facilitates those ICT based services as per the organizers by a Government Department (Central/State) which has showcased exemplary citizen focus, reach, scope and innovation in approach. This service should have effectively contributed to enhancement in productivity and efficiency as well as in imparting transparency and accountability in the governance process.
The entries should showcase the extent of service maturity, and the convenience which is provided to the citizens for enjoying the services. An extent of integration with electronic authentication, digital payments, and digi-locker will be evaluated. Citizen participation in decision making is desirable.
Over many years, the categories have also been aligned with the current trends in the field of technology. In the fifth edition, the following categories are there: Emerging Technology, Best Mobile App, Web Ratna - Ministry/Department, Exemplary Online Service, Open Data Champion, Web Ratna - State/UT, Web Ratna - District, and Outstanding Digital Initiative by a Local Body.
State Government Departments/ Offices/ Institutions, Central Ministries/ Departments/ Offices/ Institutions, District Administrations and Indian Missions Abroad are eligible for applying for the Digital India Awards. A project can be nominated for more than one category.
The Digital India Awards focus on encouraging government entities, which have made important contributions to the implementation of e-Governance and shown an exemplary & innovative approach for achieving administrative efficiency and transparency.
