Earth Will Experience The Blood Moon Today

The Earth will experience an unusual lunar event: A Blood Moon on this Friday i.e. 27th July, 2018. When most of us will stare at the copper red phenomenon that will lighten up the sky with wonder and amaze, we should take out time to think about the tireless rangers which will make blood moon take an entirely different meaning. During the full moon in May 2017, 9 rhino carcasses were found dead and without their horns at Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park in South Africa and 8 others were killed during a Supermoon event in 2015.

Blood Moon is a type of lunar eclipse in which the full moon passes directly behind the Earth and including its shadow. This process causes the Sun ray’s to bend as they pass through the atmosphere of Earth. We people only look at the moon attentively when there is some sort of rare phenomena such as the Blood Moon or the other even more rare occurrence of Supermoon. A supermoon can be up to 30% brighter than when the moon is at its farthest point from Earth and this results in making the night even more horrifying for the rhinos. So when you watch this amazing event, keep in mind that full moon is a monthly incident which becomes a burden of care for some of our most rare species.
