JEE Main 2019 April Exam: 72% JEE Main 1 Students Register To Take Main 2

Around 72% of the students of Joint Entrance Examination (Main 1) have registered for the Main 2 exam as well so as for improving their marks. This is the very first time that the engineering/ architecture entrance test for the IITs, NITs and other top technical education institutions are being held a second time. This is to give an opportunity to aspirants for appearing in both the exams main 1 and main 2. The best of the two scores will be accepted while preparing the merit list.
For the Main 2 exam to be held between the second and the third week of April 2019, over 9.34 lakh aspirants have registered for it. Of the total aspirants registered, 6.69 lakh aspirants had already experienced the test via Main 1. While the total number of students has marginally dropped, the number of male candidates has raised by nearly 45,000 and comprise 75% of the total test takers.
From 2019, the tests are being conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the agency created a record of sorts by declaring the JEE Main 1 results in a record time of seven days. A total of 8,816 aspirants were placed in the 99-100 percentile category in the Main 1 exam.
While declaring the results of the exams, NTA has announced the individual percentile of the aspirant and has not ranked the students. According to NTA, the ranks of the aspirants will be released taking into consideration better of the two NTA marks of all aspirants who have appeared in January 2019 or will be appearing in April 2019 examinations. The final merit list will be declared only after the JEE-main 2 exams has been conducted in April 2019.
