Kashmir And Its Dharmic History!
Editorials News | Sep-09-2019
Crown of Bharat, Kashmir valley is also known as Sharadakshetra as it is considered the land of Goddess Sharada who presides over wisdom and knowledge. The land because of its alluring beauty has been an essential center of learning and has been eulogized as ‘Paradise on Earth’. Below you will get to know that how Kashmir Valley is deeply associated with Indian philosophy.
The name Kashmir was derived from one of the revered rishis ‘Rishi Kashyap’ and got its origin from there. It was considered as the land of serenity and was referred as land of splendid beauty and wisdom. These are the characteristics of Kashmir that symbolize the goal that is mentioned in the classic culture, transcendental ascendency or the spiritual upliftment.
The Punyabhoomi and spiritually acclaimed Kashmir at the time of arrival of Adi Guru's noticed that besides Buddhism and its teachings the Buddhist are also dwindling with the practice of tantra and have forgotten their esteemed teachings.
While having a conversation with the Shaivite saints of Kashmir, Adi came to know about a misconception prevailing regarding the disbelief associated with Adavitins on Shakti.
In order to eradicate these misbelieves, Acharya Shankar composed flattering and amazing hymns which are dedicated to Shakti and were called as Soundaryalahari.
"On the all holy seat of the lap of the great God Shiva, Sits she who is like a tide in the sea of happiness of ultimate truth, and is worshipped by only by few select holy men.” This excellent composition done by Adi Shankar pertinently has proven the sacredness attached with the land of Kashmir and shows how the land has strong presence of Sharda, the goddess of learning.
This approach of Shakti and Shaivism in Kashmir further resulted into philosophical osmosis and thereafter gave birth to the Smarta tradition in the fold of Sanatana Dharma. Adi Shankaracharya established the interpretation of the Upanishads as the touchstone of a revived tradition of smarta.
By recent scrapping of Article 370 it is considered that the first step towards such revival has now been taken. However, the fact that the beautiful Kashmir Valley needs to be integrated into whole India is there, but it should be done not just politically but spiritually and culturally too.
