Madhya Pradesh: World on Wheels

In 2016 Hewlett and Packard at Global Citizen Festival India, announced its commitment to build and deploy 48 self-contained, Internet enabled digital inclusion and learning labs aimed at driving digital literacy, education programming, training in entrepreneurship and community services of various kinds in rural India. The program was named HP World on Wheels or simply WOW.

In March The Andhra Pradesh government launched the multi-utility vehicle named "Naipunya Ratham' or World on Wheels to the remotest corner of the state.

Close to its wake Madhya Pradesh Government on the 8th of August flagged off the World on Wheels initiative. The Bus comes equipped with 20 computers, and is estimated to have cost 1 crore. This was presented to the State Open School Education Board by the Entrepreneurship Development Authority in Hyderabad.

This will play a major role in imparting education especially to the children in rural areas. As per information from the institute 40 such buses will be made available which will benefit more than 16000 students from this program every year. The buses are equipped with solar panels to ensure undisrupted supply of electricity to run the computers.
