People To Adopt “Green Good Deeds”

Nature is God’s greatest gift to human beings. Nature provides us with all our basic needs such as water to drink, air to breathe and food to eat. Healthy and clean environment brings prosperity, growth and development. It is our primary duty to protect the environment and our mother nature. Also, Article 21 of the Indian Constitution states that the “Right to a clean and healthy environment” is our fundamental right.

In today’s world of industrialisation and globalisation, we are heading towards development at a very fast speed. We hardly bother about the harmful effects that our activities have on our environment. We have to realise the value of nature soon and take effective steps in order to protect it. We need to understand that our selfish humanly activities are pushing the environment close to its depletion. Lately, the Union Environment minister Harsh Vardhan stated that the entire world is worried about the dangers posed by global warming and climate change on our environment. In accordance to that he has requested and appealed to the people to adopt and encourage others to adopt "green good deeds" that are helpful in protecting the environment. The “green good deeds” is a campaign that was launched by the Ministry of Environment last year. The major aim behind the launch of this initiative was to preserve the environment and promote healthy living. The campaign has also put forward a list of 500 activities that shall prove to be helpful in protecting the environment. Dr. Harsh Vardhan stated that the global community is of the belief and understanding that India can render support in providing the right leadership and directions to tackle the challenges of pollution and global warming. While addressing a global summit on 'Science, Spirituality, Education and Environment' in New Delhi, Dr. Harsh Vardhan stated that slight behavioural changes and nature-friendly activities can prove to be of immense help in protecting and preserving the environment. Alongside, Shri Arjun Meghwal, the Union Minister for Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs has called for the cultivation of positive, clean and healthy thoughts, conduct along with attitude and character so as to make our life, nature, society and environment clean, harmonious, balanced and healthy. He had also mentioned that in a process to achieve this happy and healthy, positive change in the society, physical wellness, inner empowerment of every human soul and spiritual education, sanskars, intellect and mind are mandatory.
