Sea Levels Will Go On Rising!

Sea levels will go on rising around the world after the long current carbonic emissions pledges that are made through the Paris climate agreement, and are met and global temperatures stabilize, a new study has indicated.
The historic Paris agreement on the climate change mitigation was adopted in December 2015 that calls for limiting the global average temperatures below 2 degrees Celsius when compared to pre-industrial levels, and to carry on these efforts for keeping the increase to 1.5 degrees Celsius. The agreement took effect in the year 2016.
The new study shows the first to quantify how much the sea level would increase from the carbon emissions that were pledged under the Paris agreement. The researchers have now found that emissions released during the initial 15-year period of the agreement would cause the sea levels to rise by 20 centimetres by the year 2300.
However, the estimates did not take into account the good impact of an already irreversible melting of parts of Antarctic ice sheet.
Peter Clark, an Oregon State University climate scientist and a co-author of the study said that even if they were to meet the initial goals of the Paris agreement, the commitment of sea level from global warming will be important. When we pump more carbon gas into the atmosphere, the increase in temperature is immediate. But the level of sea rise takes much more time to respond to that warming. She also said that if one takes an ice cube out of the freezer and put it on the sidewalk, it takes time to melt and the bigger the ice cube, the longer it will take to melt.
All the findings were published today in the Proceedings from the National Academy of Sciences. The whole study was led by the researchers at Climate Analytics and the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research.
