The Exciting Sport of “Broomball”

There are so many sports played around the world that increases our curiosity. Broomball is also a sport that is a recreational ice game. It has been originated in Canada but it is also contested being Swedish.
Broomball is played in some of the other countries to. Justifying the name, it is played by a broom. There are two teams, each consisting of six players- a goaltender and five other players in a game of broomball. Each team has to score more than the opponent team. . Each team tries to score Goals by hitting the ball into the opponent's net using the broom. The techniques used in Broomball are more or less same as the game of hockey, roller hockey and floorball. A small ball is hit around the ice with a stick called a "broom” that has a wooden or aluminum shaft and has a rubber-molded triangular head like a regular broom that we use at home and offices. Players wear special rubber-soled shoes instead of skates. The ice is prepared so that it becomes smooth and dry to improve traction. A typical game of broomball is broken up into two or three periods. The team who scores most of the goals at the end of a game is declared the winner. To maintain the rules and discipline the game is monitored by two on-ice referees having the same powers to call all penalties, off-sides, goals etc. The governing body of broomball is International Federation of Broomball Associations (IFBA).
