Yet Another Phogat Sister made India Proud

The Phogat sisters’ name has been very familiar in the field of wrestling. They have been making our country proud by there wrestling. However, no one can deny that they got huge popularity since the movie “Dangal” released. The true story behind the movie was of Geeta and Babita Phogat who set an example of dedication and discipline for women in the field of wrestling. Now, taking one step forward their cousin Vinesh Phogat and Ritu Phogat have continued the trend.

Recently Ritu Phogat won the silver medal in the 48kg category in the ongoing World U-23 Wrestling Championship. It is the first ever silver medal won by India in the prestigious tournament that is being held in Bydgoscz, Poland. As Ritu Phogat received a warning point during the match, she lost the Gold medal from the Turkish girl even after she managed to draw level towards the end of the match. She defeated Miglena Georgieva Selishka of Bulgaria by a 4-2 in the quarterfinal match and China's Jiang Zhu in the Semifinals in a close fight. Giving the reaction on this performance, her father Mahavir Singh Phogat said that his daughter could have played better and wrestled smartly and not let the gold medal slip from her hands. Although he said that he is very proud of her on her first medal in a world championship in the senior category.  He is really looking forward for her to win Olympic medal in 2020.
