Distance Learning is an Option Too!
With the sky high cut-offs and increasing number of applications for universities like the Delhi University, students are losing hope of getting admission anywhere. But they should not, as they can continue their studies. There is always the option through distance learning.
Distance Learning is a system wherein teachers & learners need not necessarily be present at same place or same time. Distance Learning System of the country consists of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), State Open Universities (SOUs), Institutions and Universities offering education amongst others.
As per Times of India, students with a score of 80% and above constitute over 10% of all admission-takers in the Delhi University School of Open Learning (SOL). The list also includes 13 students with scores above 95%, 240 with marks above 90%, and 4 students with a perfect score of 100 as their best-of-four. The total number of enrolments is around 49,000 out of which 13,000 have completed the admission process.
Like every other thing, distance learning has its own pros and cons. The most important advantage is that you can set up your environment to study, which ever suits you the best. It does not matter where you live, you can get a degree anywhere in the world, and, distance learning is comparatively cheaper than a full-time degree course. However, you will miss the cordiality of being on a campus and rubbing shoulders with fellow students on a daily basis.
Keeping all the factors aside, all you need to think about is your future. Only you can decide what to do about it, and how to mould your life.
