Project Citizen At Ramjas School

Project Citizen At Ramjas School

Project Citizen is a project based learning program which adds to the students’ knowledge, improves their skills and understanding to promote justice to make the world a better place to live in. It does so by leading them through the process of researching a problem and developing a proposal for the government to address that problem. Lethargic life style of children along with no outdoor activities and eating junk food is very common among youngsters. This year, children of class 9th worked on the topic, ‘’Importance of Health and Fitness’’ by dividing it in to three parts: yoga, physical exercise and healthy eating habits. Children of class 9th wanted to sensitise children about health hazards caused by leading unhealthy lifestyle so they decided to work on the following topics:
‘Food Adulteration’, ‘Obsession for fitness among adolescent’ and ‘Time to revamp Health and Fitness in Schools’.
They analysed the problem, worked on existing government policies, decided a class policy and accordingly worked on it under guidance of their teacher incharges. To carry forward the project students surveyed and interviewed many people like advocates, doctors, parents, teachers and even the school principal, Mrs Rachna Pant to explore the topic in detail and it provided them with a barrage of exposure too. To sensitize the students of the school they organised the assembly talk, short play, poster making and slogan writing competitions. Teacher incharges of the project were Mrs. Anamika Pandey, Mrs. Deepa Rani, Mrs. Dhiraj Darbari, Mrs. Neelam Bhateja, Mrs. Panchali Chakraborty and Mr. Pranchi Singh Raghav.
After Inter class, Inter school competition was held which was followed by Valedictory function on 24th October in which many schools participated. It was really nice to see children working on different topics like- Women empowerment, Garbage disposal, Food adulteration, Health hazards etc. The main motive behind conducting this project was to sensitize children about these problems in society and to find out ways to deal with it. All participants really worked hard and presented their projects with great enthusiasm. Judges found it difficult to decide the winners as all the projects were well presented. The valedictory function began with the lightning of the lamp by the school Principal Ms. Rachana Pant and teachers of other schools. Ms. Rachana Pant in her address applauded the efforts of the participants. The Award for the outstanding overall presentation was bagged by Ramjas Day Boarding School. Ramjas School RK Puram was awarded for excellent presentation and Pragati Public School was awarded for excellent documentation.

Some Moments Of Motivation With "Anand Kumar"

Some Moments Of Motivation With "Anand Kumar"

Subtle, Humble, Docile, Down to Earth and what not...I may fall short of words, but the personality we met today has an entire truckload of achievements that he will never fall short of. Today we got the rarest chance to meet the Math wizard, the Messiah of underprivileged and the founder of the Institution which has been awarded as the "Best Institute in the country", Super 30, Mr. Anand Kumar.
I would like to tell you all about the Institution first. Super 30 is an Indian educational program started in Patna, India under the banner of Ramanujan School of Mathematics. It was founded by Anand Kumar, a mathematics teacher, and Abhay Anand, the former D.G.P of Bihar. The program selects 30 talented candidates each year from economically underprivileged sections of Indian society and trains them for the "JEE exams".

Some Moments Of Motivation With "Anand Kumar"

Our school was invited by the Inox group to come, meet and greet the wizard Mr. Anand Kumar. The first sight was very surreal for all thirty five of us. A man in a simple shirt, blue jeans and simple sandals with a face full of happiness, simplicity, intellect and daring caught all of our attention in the first go. His voice was so subtle, body language so professional and personality so attractive that it was enough for all of us to agree to the fact that who else could take thirty students, teach and feed them like his own children and get them selected for India's most renowned Institutions. After a brief session of questions and answers about his personal life, social background and bits from the movie based on his dramatic but struggling life we had a golden opportunity to get ourselves clicked with him and none of us literally none let the opportunity go vacant. The passion of teaching, the glamour, the vigour, the charisma was all visible on his shining face that got lit up after seeing such restless but enlightening souls of ours.
We finally left him as he had another gathering waiting for him to get enlightened and motivated by his witty and amusing words. We still cherish upon the 4 mantras that he gave us to be successful in life "continuous hard work", "continuous up thrust", "positivity" and "optimistic attitude".

Mahatma Gandhi Never Compromised On Cleanliness: He Gave Us Freedom, We Should Give Him Clean India

Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan or Swachh Bharat Mission is a nation wide campaign in India for the period of 2014 -2019. It aims at cleaning up the streets, roads and infrastructure of India's cities, towns, urban and rural ares. Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji began a high profile sanitation campaign and weakened or abolished environmental laws such as use of plastic bag. The Government of India aims to achieve an 'open defecation free' India by 2nd October 2019, the 150th anniversary of birth of Mahatma Gandhi ji.

Students of classes Nursery and K.G. participated in the cleanliness drive with a lot of enthusiasm and curiosity. The teachers covered different areas of personal hygiene such as washing hands in five steps with the help of soap and using sanitizer (in case of shortage or no supply of water).

Also, conservation of water was encouraged by using mug and bucket to save each drop of water. They were shown the various objects that help us to keep our surroundings clean. A talk on Gandhiji's idealogy was discussed in detail.
