Editorials News | Sep-06-2016
Kidney stone can be prevented by fruits says a study by University of Houston.
The study shows the most common compound of human kidney stones is hudroxycitrate (HCA) that can dissolves calcium oxalate crystals.
Researchers did a study through which they have found that citric fruits can be helpful in preventing painful kidney stone.
Citrate an acid found usually in fruits such as oranges, lemons, limes and grapefruits seems to help prevent kidney stones from forming. The researchers have admitted that the prevention has not changed much over last three decades.
Doctors usually tell patients to drink lots of water and avoid foods rich in oxalate, such as rhubarb, okra, spinach and almonds. Often doctors recommend to take citrate (CA), in the form of potassium citrate, a supplement that can slow down the crystal growth inside the human body.
Study states, some people prone to stones have been found with insufficient levels of citrate in their urine. A glass or two of orange juice can help protect against stones by increasing urinary citrate. It also provides the proper daily requirement for vitamin C.
