Managing Diabetes through Artificial Pancreas

A new ray of hope for all the diabetic patients as scientists has developed an artificial pancreas system. The artificial pancreas system works fully integrated with smartphones to continuously examine glucose levels of diabetes and naturally deliver required doses of insulin.

The participants used a novel artificial pancreas system for more than 60,000 hours. Participants in a 12 – week clinical trial displayed significant improvements. These improvements were in two key measures of well-being in people living with type 1 diabetes. In the study, thirty patients with type 1 diabetes proceeded with their normal daily routines. At the same moment, artificial pancreas system continuously monitored their glucose levels and naturally adapted insulin delivery settings.

The results of the study got published in the journal Diabetes Care that brought out positive effects on two important indicators. The indicators are decreased hemoglobin A1c and reduced time spent in hypoglycemia.
