Princess of Wales- Lady Diana

Princess Diana was born on July 1, 1961 and she became Lady Diana Spencer when her father inherited the title of Earl Spencer in 1975. She was married to the heir of the British throne , Prince Charles on July 29, 1981. Princess Diana is still remembered as the People’s Princess because of her goodwill, humanitarian efforts and widespread popularity. Her parents were divorced when she was young and her father received the custody of the children. She was homeschooled in her initital education days and later attended Riddlesworth Hall School and then West Heath School. Lady Diana was known for her shy behavior but she was inclined towards music and dancing. She attended school at Institut Alpin Videmanette in Switzerland and later moved to London. Following her fondness for children, she started working at Young England Kindergarten as an assistant.Lady Diana spent her childhood playing with Prince Andrew and Prince Edward while her family rented Park House which was an estate owned by Queen Elizabeth II. She married to Prince Charles, who was the elder son of Queen Elizabeth II, and also 13 years older to Lady Diana.

Prince Charles has always been the subject to media attention due to him being the heir to the British Throne and his courtship with Lady Diana was no exception. The couple got married on July 29, 1981 and their ceremony was broadcast on television around the world for millions of people to see what the wedding of the century was all about. Diana and Charles had their first child on June 21, 1982 I.e. Prince William Arthur Philip Louis. Later, Lady Diana gave birth to widely known as “Prince Harry” - Prince Henry Charles Albert David on September 15, 1984. Diana planned to develop and pursue her own interests which included serving as a strong supporter of various charities and to work for helping the homeless, HIV and AIDS victims and children in need. Though the marriage didn’t have a happy ending and the two were separated in December 1992 which was announced by British Prime Minister John Major. The divorce was finalized in 1996.

Post divorce, Lady Diana devoted herself to her children and to charitable efforts who raise awareness about the dangerous leftover land mines in war-torn Angola. She also faced negative fame when she commenced dating Egyptian film producer and playboy Dodi Fayed in 1997. On August 31, 1997, the couple was involved in a car crash while visiting Paris. They both were trying to escape from the paparazzi early in the morning. Fayed Dodi along with the driver were announced dead at the scene,  Diana initially survived the accident but a few hours later at a Paris hospital, she surrendered to her injuries.The news of Lady Diana’s sudden demise came as a shock to the entire world followed by various rumors where it was stated as a conspiracy by the royal family but no evidence was found in support of it.Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton honored Lady Diana while naming their second child, Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana who was born on May 2, 2015. Princess of Wales Memorial Fund was found after her death to impart facilities and resources for terminally ill, penal reform, asylum etc.
