Bucket List Destinations: How Dreams Became Reality

Bucket List Destinations: How Dreams Became Reality

I always think that there’s magic inherent in finally reaching to a destination you’ve lived in your heart for years. It could be an infamous sunset over Santorini, a environs from Machu Picchu or bawling souks of Marrakech. Along with travel goals, bucket list destinations are more than just places to tick off, places we have seen in movies or read about in books, or pinned on countless boards, patiently waiting for its transfiguration into reality.

1. Hiding Behind the Bucket List Destinations
Bucket list destinations are a thing that appeals to you. These are often icons, exotic, or novel, in ways that attract our imagination. They’re not just on a map, these are hopes, passions, and personal dreams. These destinations represent adventure, discovery and the beautiful world we live in — hike the Inca Trail or walk along the Great Wall of China with them, marvel at the Northern Lights, and more.

Why Do We Ever Dream of Certain Places?
Sometimes a destination is awarded because of the beauty, the history or the way it comes across in the media. Our awareness of distant locales has also increased on social media, which have made them somehow both accessible and desirable. The hope is in promise of transformation, however. Often traveling to these iconic spots changes something inside us. It takes us out of our comfort zones, into new cultures and suddenly you remember it’s a big planet with so many different cultures and so much variation.

2. Turning Dreams into Reality
It can be daunting turning a bucket list into reality. Life, life, and life (or money) enters the equation. However, they who achieve these dreams realize that it’s about putting travel on a priority list, setting definite goals and saving just for that one-time trip. Then there are those that do not save each month and have no plan. 'For some, it's just spur of the moment because a great flight deal comes up or it's like 'Life's too short,' you know?

Planning and Budgeting: Common practice is to break down the costs into manageable savings plans. Thus, with each effort you move a little closer towards setting clear goals, whether you want to make it to $50 a month, or you decide budget accommodations will do.

Harnessing the Power of Social Media: Travel blogs, social media, or online communities are some of the ways that people map out cost effective ways to experience their dream destination. The best learning tips from seasoned travelers often can show you hidden gems and budget friendly options.

3. These Iconic Bucket List Destinations and Why They are Worth it
And here are a few destinations that always make it onto bucket lists worldwide. These places are rich in history, culture and natural beauty. Most of these experiences, particularly for those who go, are life changing.

Santorini, Greece
Santorini has a big romance in its blue domed buildings, sparkling water and legendary sunsets. It’s like a postcard, white washed houses clinging to the edge of cliffs, with the Aegean Sea below. Sitting on narrow streets of Oia, eating Mediterranean cuisine hot off the spit and allowed it to stay hot for a good stretch of time, watching the sun disappear behind the glaring rock, these are things that no matter what makes you appreciate.

Machu Picchu, Peru
Machu Picchu is as magnificent as it is mysterious, the particular Incan city with the same name. This ancient site is nestled high in the Andes, offering travelers a glimpse of time as mankind took its first great step forward in the history of architecture. Tips of the fingers certainly can’t, but the journey itself—by train or Inca Trail—really enhances the magic of the experience, increasing its awe nature.

Northern Lights in Iceland
The Northern Lights are few natural phenomena which are as mesmerising and Iceland is the best place to witness them. The Arctic sky lit indigo by swirling colours is humbling and exhilarating. Iceland’s dramatic landscapes of volcanoes, geysers and glaciers, combined with this, makes it clear why this is a destination so many people place on their travel wishlists.

Safari in Serengeti, Tanzania
One of nature’s most incredible spectacles is to have watched the Great Migration across the Serengeti plains. There are lions, elephants, hundreds of other animals that roam free on this safari, and it's a quintessential check mark on the sum bucket list of adventures to have. You don’t get much more in the way of unforgettable life experiences than watching these majestic creatures in their natural habitat — in a rare moment as humans are viewers of life’s grandeur.

4. Beyond the Destination: The Journey Within
It’s interesting how, to reach a bucket list destination, you’re not only traveling from point A to B, you’re traveling through life. Travelers talk about a feeling of fulfilment, growth, and a new found love for life. Sometimes we return with photos, but sometimes we return with changed perspectives. If we visit a dream destination we’re reminded of what is within our reach. This brings confidence to us and we go after other dreams not just travel wise but life wise.

5. Final Thoughts: Making Dreams a Reality
Bucket list destinations bring life’s beauty, diversity and endless possibilities to mind. And they are more than places, they are memories of aspiration, points of joy, and turning towards the larger something. Creating these dreams happen while it takes time, work, and sacrifice but the reward is priceless.
With this, keep in mind, that every step of a successful travel begins with a step. Here’s a little savings, a lot of dreaming, and a dare to make a wish come true. When you finally stand in that long drea med place, take a moment and enjoy the view as much as the journey to get there.
