As per news reports, there may not be a fee revision in the next academic year in private engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu. Colleges feel the new government may play safe, sources said.
Justice Sri Krishna Fee Committee report has given a break-up of a college’s requirement which provides options for three categories based on cities and as classified by the 6th pay commission.
The committee has fixed Rs. 1,44,900 to Rs.1,58,300 in a year for colleges that are offering BE/B Tech, depending on where they are situated.
Fee revision was due last year in 2015 and before that was done in 2012. Also, the committee’s fee guideline is said to be 60% more than what has been fixed by the state government at present.
A state AICTE official said the government may decide whether to adopt the report’s guidelines.
