A first-of-its-kind ethnographic museum will be opened for public viewing in Lucknow later this year.
Ethnography is a systematic study of people and cultures and the tribal museum will be set up at Lucknow University’s department of anthropology.
From rare and unseen iron embellishments worn by the Agariya tribe to multi-coloured hand-woven attires and items used by various tribal groups of Uttar Pradesh will be seen at the tribal museum.
The museum made under the centre of excellence scheme supported by the ministry of higher education of the state government will also act as a research centre for students. The museum boasts of 72 items collected from 18 tribes across the state.
