Satyajit Ray was an Indian filmmaker and author who has given so many award winning movies to India. Born 2 May 1921, Ray was widely regarded as one of the greatest filmmakers of the 20th century. He started his career as a commercial artist and got his inspiration from French filmmaker Jean Renoir when he viewed Vittorio De Sica's Italian neorealist film Bicycle Thieves (1948) during a visit to London.
Gopala Ratnam Subramaniam commonly known as Mani Ratnam is a talented Indian film director. He predominantly works in Tamil cinema. Mani Ratnam has created influential and revolutionary movies for which he has honored with Padma Shri, in 2002. The government has awarded him with Padma shri while acknowledging his contributions to film in 2002.
