FairGaze & UNIC: Campaign For Climate Action

Motive - The motive of the session is to throw light on the alarming danger of climate change approaching the planet with its worsening consequences. This awareness session aims to emphasize on the need for urgent climate action.

FairGaze, in partnership with United Nations Information Centre for India and Bhutan (UNIC), is launching a three month drive to spread awareness around climate change and the need to Act Now. The campaign coincides with the 26th Conference of Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change or COP 26, scheduled from 31 October to 12 Nov 2021 in Glasgow, Scotland.

The three-month campaign aims to include children as change makers towards the fulfillment of Sustainable Goal 13 (Climate Action).The campaign encourages understanding of the climate crisis and individual actions driven by young students. Along with students, the campaign will engage teachers, parents, educationists and climate experts in meaningful discussions on climate challenges and solutions.

This webinar marks the launch of the SDG campaign on climate action and will shed light on the United Nations' "ten impactful actions" to begin with for starting your journey of climate action and sustainability.

This session will have eminent speakers from FairGaze and & United Nations Information Centre for India and Bhutan (UNIC) to talk about the objectives and the expected impact the campaign has sought to bring. The campaign wants students to come forward and actively participate in making a change through the implementation of their small sustainable actions, every day.

Rajiv Chandran

Rajiv Chandran Officer-in-Charge at the UN Information Centre

Rajiv Chandran is currently Officer-in-Charge at the UN Information Centre for India and Bhutan.

For 28 years, Mr. Rajiv Chandran has striven to create efficient communication and media strategies to strengthen UN outreach in South Asia and to facilitate better understanding in the region of the United Nations and its complex processes.

Mr. Chandran has created a unique branding for his office; today, UNIC New Delhi is the accepted source of authentic information on the UN. Always approachable, honest and frank on what he can deliver (or not, as the case may be), Chandran is respected in professional circles for his commitment to his profession and the international organization he so enthusiastically represents.

Ms. Nita Arora

Ms. Nita Arora, Principal- Sri Venkateshwar International School (Moderator)

Developing a sense of responsibility with an attitude of lifelong learning in school team and community defines her personal ethos and mission.

As the Principal of Sri Venkateshwar International School, Sector 18, Dwarka since 2010, she strongly believes that schools are happy places where children learn mindfulnesse and gratefulness.

She has 40 years of experience in different kinds of schools and was awarded the state level first position among 181 awardess by the Education Directorate of the Govt of Delhi in 2019.

She has contributed to NEP by sharing her feedback and is now among the first group of master trainers trained by British Council and Cambridge University on behalf of CBSE for competency based education.

She has undertaken more than 100 trainings for students, teachers, parents and school leaders on diverse topics for CBSE as one of its Resource Persons and for the British Council as the British Council School Ambassador.

In 2018, she won the National First Prize, Acharya Devo Bhav Trophy and a cash award of Rs 1 Lakh in Extempore Speech, organised by the Brainfeed Magazine

In June 2021, she won the Champions' Trophy of Principals' Talent Show by Funkids India

Her school won the first position at the State Level and thurd at the national level in Green Schools category by the Centre of Science and Environment in 2014. They also are the winners of the National Best Healthy School Award 2019 by ASSOCHAM

Sudheen Mookola Lakshman

Sudheen Mookola Lakshman Founder, FairGaze Skills Pvt Ltd

Sudheen is passionate about creating opportunities, holistic development of teens and fostering NGOs. He loves team building, strategy development and implementation and his expertise includes Marketing Communications, Localization, Translation, Strategic planning, Branding and positioning, Media.

A commerce graduate with post graduate qualifications in French language and an advance diploma in computers in 1985, he pursued his fascination to work with languages using the best of available technologies. His pursuits led him to take up international marketing position in a major pharmaceutical company and then as the head of a publishing firm.

He began his entrepreneurial journey in 1989, in the niche area of multilingual communication and localization services employing latest technologies, which was later incorporated as Crystal Hues limited.

In 2015, he co-founded FairGaze Skills Pvt Ltd to enable and empower school students as a focused media and ecosystem for their holistic development.

He has also been instrumental establishing i2u Social Foundation which assists over 100 NGOs covering 12 social causes with capacity building and outreach and India Excellence Forum focused on creating awareness and psychological intervention on behaviour management and mental wellness.
