Different Ways To Color Wax Candles Naturally

How to Color Candles Naturally

As people now are inclined towards the traditional approach towards things thus lighting has always played an important part in the celebrations. People tend to make candle wax color  them in different styles and nature. Some basic ways to color candles is that it can be colored using dyes or pigment, but if one wishes to have a natural color then you should choose natural products like turmeric, which has been in use traditionally for making golden colors. Whereas to make it by using natural dyes you must place the dying material or plant in cheese cloth or you can use coffee filter sachets to make something like a tea bag for instant dye. For doing this, one should not fish out any dye material out from the hot wax till your wax has put up the desired color. We can use following things:

· Spices as color- to create aromatherapy candles one must add spices to the hot wax as it will produce different colors. The spice acts like a pigment more than like a dye, mainly if you use ground spices in the state of powders. As Turmeric and sassafras create orange or yellow colors, and saffron will produce yellow colors and saffron will also produces blue and purple colors.

· Herbs as color- as many types of dyes are developed synthetically now, originally they were made using herbs. In past herbs are strongly heated in oil so as to extract the color to  mix up in hot wax, however one needed to strain the parts of plant out before dipping in the candles. Some herbs which are used as dyes includes sunflower seeds for deep purple, wild celery for a light yellow color, St. Johns Wort for red colors,  ground lichen for orange and elder for blue colors.

· Colors of Flower petals- Natural dyes are made from flower petals. So petals can be added up into the wax to produce different design and textures as it functions like a dye. Flowers such as dried hibiscus flowers produce a red color; Coneflower and goldenrod produce brown colors, cornflower and hyacinth blue colors, etc.

· Colors from Fruits and Vegetables- fruits can be mashed to create color in candles. Like blackberries stain our fingers when eating so it can be a source of color as they contain natural dyes.
