CBSE Introduces Podcast On Initiatives & Educational Tools

Podcasts have become one of the easiest and widely used mediums to distribute information. Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has also introduced the method as a way to keep schools, teachers and students informed about its latest initiatives and learning processes. The board recently launched its newest podcast platform called Shiksha Vani to impart information on educational tools and initiatives that will boost the learning process.

No registration is required. Teachers, parents and students can just download the app and access the publicly available information. The app is currently only available for Android users.

"Since it is in the initial stages, we have to wait and see how well it is used and then take it forward," said K Srinivasan, who is serving as regional officer of CBSE.

School principals were informed about the podcast just a few hours after its launch. A lot of them registered and even listened to the first podcast where controller of examination explains the evaluation process of answer scripts.

"There is a lot of first-hand information available here," said P Vijayalakshmi, principal of Chinmaya Vidyalaya Higher Secondary School, Virugambakkam. She said that the platform will help the schools to keep up to date with any changes in the board like the recent changes made in evaluation and processes method. "Every detail has been explained in the platform," she added.

The podcast is part of board's zero-error policy for evaluation of answer-scripts for board exams. All the schools would be able to benefit from the facility because podcasts are much more engaging than written information provided in the form of circulars.

CBSE-Shiksha Vaani is available for download in Playstore for Android Users. It has sections for principals, teachers, centre superintendents and invigilators, examiners, regional officers, parents, students and the general public. It requires a phone number registered with nodal officer. For accessing audio clips, you need to enter a six-digit OTP first.
