Class 10 Board Exams to Be Reintroduced
Editorials News | Nov-03-2016
The Government is planning to make class 10th board exams mandatory from 2018.
As per the offer, the students were allowed to choose between the board examination and school assessments. Under the Government guidelines, many students preferred the option of school assessment. The second option allows the schools to set easier questionnaire for students for better results. The CBSE Class 10 board examination was discarded in 2010 and replaced with the ‘current continuous and comprehensive evaluation +’. According to the Government data over 13,000 schools are affiliated under the CBSE board.
The Government has planned this schedule by keeping the importance of board exams in mind. Several times the topic of making the board exam optional has become a debatable issue. HRD minister Prakash Javadekar will also declare a new 'no-detention' policy where students will be promoted till Class V. States will then work out their options till Class VIII, and will offer an opportunity for a "re-test" for students who fail.
