National Education Policy 2020

In addition to other things, the NEP has renamed the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) as the Ministry of Education, an indication of the nation's changing spotlight on instruction. The NEP 2020 is the primary new training arrangement to be presented in India in the 21st century, the last having been actualized in 1986, 34 years back. The NEP, hence, replaces the National Policy on Education, 1986, which was altered once in 1992. Prior to that, the main training strategy was passed in 1968. Another instruction strategy was one of the Bharatiya Janata Party's surveys guarantees in the 2014 Lok Sabha decisions.

Most importantly, the NEP changes the current 10+2 structure of school instruction to a 5+3+3+4, covering youngsters between the ages of 3-18. 

Endeavors for another instruction strategy have been in progress since 2015, and in May 2016, the Committee for Evolution of the New Education Policy presented its report, in view of which the then MHRD arranged 'A few Inputs for the Draft National Education Policy, 2016'.

In the end, in June 2017, the Committee for the Draft National Education Policy was comprised under the chairmanship of Dr. K Kasturirangan, the previous head of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), which presented the Draft National Education Policy 2019 to Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal on 31 May 2019, after he assumed responsibility for the service. The draft had allegedly before been submitted in December 2018 also. As indicated by the administration, the NEP 2020 has been planned in the wake of having considered more than 2 lakh proposals from 2.5 lakh gram panchayats, 6,600 squares, 6,000 ULBs, and 676 locales.
