Parenting Children during Exam-period
Editorials News | Jan-24-2018
With the growing rate of competition, exams have become more challenging for not only the children but to their parents also. Exam days are approaching fast and every parent wants to see their children performing at their best.
However, this kind of over-pressurizing attitude towards the child ends up making them dull and insecure child. Children need emotional support at this point of time that reflects in their performances. Therefore, parents need to let their children perform as per their capabilities and get the best grades. At the same time they should try to eliminate things that create difficulties in concentrating on studies. Some simple steps may help the child perform better like- sitting down with the children and decide on the syllabus; providing rich and healthy foods like nuts, yogurt, cheese, etc. to give them a strong supply of energy; providing them at least 8-9 hours of uninterrupted sleep each night, so that children could be ready again to work hard with more energy; minimizing the TV time during exam days, however, they must be given at least 30-45 minutes of physical activity time each day to reduce the stress and have better cognitive ability. Exam days are very much stressful period for the children. So they need extra care, support and encouragement and love during this time. If parents follow these simple steps then it will definitely improve the performance of children while reducing the extra pressure. Children must be given space to perform as per their ability.
