In Hong Kong, Japan, and South Korea offices earlier they were asked to work from home - making it obligatory for employees - as new coronavirus (COVID-19) spread in new territories, twitter had also told its 5,000- strong workforce globally. The virus had also blocked on non- essential traveling. But the US offices were still open for employees who feel the need to come.
The Twitter company said in an updated statement on 2nd March that they are strongly encouraging all employees globally to work from home if they're able to. Their goal is to lower the probability of the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus for us - and the world around them.
Twitter further added that they are working to make sure internal meetings, all hands, and other important tasks are enhanced for remote participation.
Due to the government’s restrictions, working from home will be mandatory for employees based in Japan, Hong Kong, and South Korea offices and now India is also following the same.
Twitter said, while this is a big change for them, they had already been moved towards a more distributed workforce that's increasingly remote.
They had also continued to monitor the situation closely and had adjusted their internal policies to respond to this rapidly-evolving situation. On February 29, they had updated their people and started notifying partners that they are suspending all non-critical business events and travel, the micro-blogging platform said in a statement.
Furthermore, their goal is to reduce the risk that anyone at Twitter might contract or involuntary spread the virus. To minimize the spread of COVID-19 and to protect themselves, they must take these proactive steps.
Jennifer Christie, who leads the people team at Twitter, tweeted in a series of tweets that they shared additional guidance, strongly encouraging all Twitter employees globally to work from home if they're able. Their goal is to minimize contact with others and contain any potential risk, shielding everyone's health and safety.
A TCS spokesperson said that they are ensuring that their staff has all the information and support they require. Besides, they are also working closely with their clients to co-ordinate any measures in this situation.
