Exam Rules And Regulation For IIT JEE Aspirants

IIT JEE is the most prestigious engineering entrance exam that is conducted for selecting candidates. This exam is conducted once a year. It is basically an entrance exam for admission to premier engineering colleges/ institutions. This year it is going to be organized by the National Testing Agency (NTA) under its supervision for the first time from January 8, 2019. The exam will be a computer-based test and shall be conducted in various centres across India till January 12, 2019. The admit cards for the exam and all other essential details that shall be of use to the aspirants have been made available upon the website of the competitive exam i.e. jeemain.nic.in. The NTA is extremely cautious about the use of any unfair means by the candidates during the exam and with regard to the same, it has also issued an advisory which stated that in order to maintain confidentiality, integrity, fairness and smoothness in the examination, all IIT – JEE examination centres shall be under CCTV surveillance. Also, jammers have been installed at all centres. Certain steps that need to be followed by the candidates are:

(i) Candidates should visit the exam centre one day before the exam in order to familiarize themselves with the exam centre and to avoid last minute confusions and hassles.

(ii) Candidates must reach the exam centre well on time i.e. reporting time mentioned on the admit card. No student shall be allowed to enter the examination centre, once the gates have been closed.

(iii) Candidates must carry on the following items with them during the exam:

(a) a coloured print out of their admit card downloaded from the NTA Website.

(b) one coloured passport sized photograph. This photograph must match with the photograph affixed on the online application form. This photograph needs to be pasted on the attendance sheet.

(c) an original ID proof i.e. PAN card/ Driving License/ Voter ID/ Passport/ Aadhaar Card/E- Aadhaar/Ration Card.

(d) For those who are seeking relaxation under the PwD category, carrying of the PwD certificate issued by the competent authority is permitted.

(e) Candidates suffering from diabetic shall be permitted to carry eatables like sugar tablets or fruits (like banana/apple/ orange) and transparent water bottle to the exam hall/room. However, according to NTA, they will not be allowed to carry packed products like chocolates or candy or sandwich etc.

(f) Pen or Pencil and blank paper sheets for rough work will be provided to the candidates in the examination room.

(iv) Candidates are prohibited from carrying the following items with them:

(a) Geometry instruments, Pencil box, Handbag, Purse, paper or stationery, eatables and water (loose or packed), mobile phone, ear phone, microphone, pager, calculator, docupen, slide rules, log tables, camera, tape recorder, to wear or carry any type of watch including electronic watches with calculator installed in them, any metallic item or electronic gadgets devices

(v) Candidates should avoid carrying valuables with them as there will not be any provision for safe keeping of the valuables at the centre.
