How Education Inculcates Creativity?

Education is one of the most important areas that should be taken care of in any nation. Education forms the basis of growth in any nation. If the citizens of a nation are well educated, the nation blooms like a flower, because educated citizens means low crime rate, broad minded people, more skilled professionals etc. Therefore, it is extremely important for the governments of each and every nation to bring about reforms in the field of education as and when needed.

Lately, former UK PM Tony Blair addressed the school students and teachers and put forward his views on the concept of education at the Tagore International School in East of Kailash. Tagore International School is one amongst the 200 schools that are part of his Institute for Global Change’s Generation global programme. He stated that real education is all about being creative. In order to be creative one need to be open and broad minded. He further stated that his programme completely focuses on teaching people how to be open minded. Each one of us travels for work and other purposes and meets numerous people. Some people we like and other we don’t. Some people are easy to understand; on the contrary others are not. Quality education imbibes in a student the ability of understanding the other person’s perspective. He stated that in the era of globalization, there is need for interaction and developing good understanding with people from varied cultures all across the globe. As a part of this programme run by him the school children are made to interact with children of over 40 countries all over the world. The students connect with each other through video conferencing. They interact with children from Palestine to the Philippines, Ukraine to Pakistan. The students at Tagore International School shared their different experiences and elaborated on the similarities and differences that they found between themselves and students from the other nations. He explained that he himself got an opportunity to interact with the students of different nationalities only when he reached college, which he believed was late. He got deeply influenced by an Ugandan and an Indian in college. Keeping this experience in mind, he initiated this programme where children can connect with other children of their age belonging to varied nationalities. He further added that this practice shall indeed make the children more aware, flexible about different people across the world. Eventually, this would help in reducing the barriers that globalization presently faces. He also informed that the birthday parties of his children are full of children belonging to varied nationalities.
