But today we will talk about a queen who was more famous for her beauty and political grip than her bravery. We are talking about the famous Maharani Gayatri Devi of Jaipur, whose beauty was discussed all over the world. Maharani Gayatri Devi worked in many fields from politics to social service and fulfilled her responsibilities well in every field. The queen got immense fame in some areas. According to the British newspaper Telegraph, the name of Queen Gayatri Devi is recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records for winning the 1962 Lok Sabha elections with the most votes. Rajmata Gayatri Devi's first name was Ayesha, Which was kept by his mother Maharani Indira. Later when a friend of Queen Indira told her that Ayesha was a Muslim name, she was named Gayatri Devi. Even after this family and mutual relatives used to affectionately call her Ayesha. Gayatri Devi is said to have grown up in a very luxurious palace and had more than 500 servants working in her palace. Along with this, Gayatri Devi was also very fond of vehicles and hunting. It is also said about her that when she first hunted leopard, she was only 12 years old.
Maharani Gayatri Devi was a good hunter as well as an excellent horseman and a good player of polo. Even today she's credited with bringing the Mercedes W126 and 500SEL to India for the first time. Apart from this, Gayatri also had a collection of expensive vehicles. Maharani Gayatri Devi also had an airplane along with vehicles like Mercedes and Rolls Royce. After the independence and partition of India, most of the princely states joined India, after which all the rulers were stripped of their power. Maharani Gayatri entered politics for the first time in 1962 by joining the Swatantra party founded by Rajagopalachari and in the same year, she won a historic victory by contesting from her constituency and won her constituency. In the year 1965, she met Lal Bahadur Shastri, Who invited her to join the Congress. At that time her husband Sawai Mansingh was appointed as the Indian Ambassador to Spain, but in keeping with her ideas and ideals, she did not join hands with the congress and formed an alliance with the Jana Sangh, the party of Bhairon Singh Shekhawat. After this, the alliance of the Swatantra party and the Jan Sangh party won a historic victory in the 1967 elections.
