Understanding Feminism
Education News | Jul-07-2020
Feminism has taken quite a turn in recent years. From fighting for the right to vote to fight for equal wages. Feminism stands for equality and not superiority; it states that men and women should be treated alike. Men are treated as aristocrats of humanity whereas women are the slave. For the greater push women are provided one - third of seats in the Indian Parliament.
Many are confused between the words ‘same’ and ‘equal’. People have come upon with the idea of raising their concern regarding the human anatomy of the two sexes. Men and women may be different but it is no excuse to treat one as superior and not provide both with equal opportunities. The whole concept of feminism is easily quoted as- ‘women and men' should be treated equally’.
Feminism is not about snatching one's food and providing it to the other, instead it is presenting equal food to both. As per the UNICEF report regarding female school dropouts, there are 132 million girls who are either forced out of school or never sent to one. The need for feminism has risen just as much as they need for clean water. Schemes like-

and many more are launched by the Indian Government in favor of feminism. As Mahatma Gandhi once quoted ‘you must be the change you wish to see in the world’ so similarly to create an impact upon the society for this agenda each one of us will have to change our mindset regarding female as the weaker gender.
