107 Kgs Idlis Prepared By A Chennai Based Chef

What is the heaviest idli you have ever seen or eaten? Most probably less than a kg. On 24th February, US President – Donald Trump with his family landed in India. On this occasion welcome gestures started pouring from all the corners of India. Love came not only in ground level but also in social media like twitter, few hashtags like #donaldtrump #welcometoIndia #Namastetrump was trending. Many people displayed they’re excitement by creating artwork for the 2-day event.
As a welcome gesture, an artist of a vegetable and fruit carving, has carved images of Donald Trump and Narendra Modi on watermelon. To carve the images, he took almost 2 hours and he also added the image of the Taj Mahal in the background.
Then a cutlery designer from Jaipur made a set of gold and silver- plated tableware for the personal use of the US President and his wife.
In Chennai, the three massive idlis and sculpted faces of PM Modi and President Trump on two of them was prepared by Iniavan, the food artist. In the third idli, there was the National flag of India and the USA. The total weight of the three was 107 kilograms. With the help of six assistants it was prepared and it took 36 hours of time.
On 24th February, at 11.50pm at Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhai International Airport, US President Trump and First Lady Melania with daughter Ivanka Trump and son-in-law Jared Kushner arrived. They both were received by PM Narendra Modi personally. PM hugged President Trump as he welcomed him.
Vijay Rupani, Gujarat’s Chief Minister was also present at the airport along with other officials to welcome them. The US President was accorded a tri-service guard of honor as he walked the red carpet.
At around 12.30pm, at the Sabarmati Ashram, Trump and Melania made a stopover and paid their tributes to Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. The spinning charkha was tried by the both Melania and Trump. They both were fascinated by the Khadi spinning experience and US President asked PM Modi questions on how it was done.
