The Odisha Government and the All India Football Federation (AIFF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will see several youth teams of the national team hosted by the coastal state and academies including the setting up of a high-performance centre in Odisha. That it will include training of the youth from all over the country and provide skill development to the youth.
As the Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik-led Biju Janata Dal government is trying to project Bhubaneswar (Capital) as a premier sports hub in the country so they did an eight-year-long deal between the Odisha Sports Development and Promotion Company (OSDPC) and the AIFF. It will really impact the youth as the craze for football is growing day by day and the unpolluted Bhubaneswar may be proved a right choice for All India Football Federation to Set-up High Performance centre. That this iconic deal was signed in the presence of AIFF General Secretary Kushal Das and Indian National Team Director Abhishek Yadav. While both the Indian Arrows football team, the AIFF's developmental squad, which is currently participating in the International League, are based out of Bhubaneswar, also the U-15 Indian side will also be based out of the state of Odisha. So as to increase the female contribution to the sports, a football academy for girls with a fully dedicated residential facility will also be set up by the AIFF in the state to grant proper opportunity and equal attention. As per the MoU, the Government of Odisha will render the services as the host of the AIFF National Team Camps as well as of the home of Indian Arrows (Indian Football team). The training and other connected infrastructure facilities like gymnasiums, swimming pool, etc, will be developed at the Kalinga Stadium Complex by the Odisha Government itself. After signing of the MoU, AIFF President Mr. Praful Patel said that “I need to thank the Odisha Government and Shri Naveen Patnaik-ji for wholeheartedly supporting Indian Football as part of their overall support for development of sports. It is a very encouraging sign that more and more State Governments are coming up to support Indian Football.” The said agreement will bring up an opportunity for the youth interested in the sport to pick up at the stated High performance Centre and develop its skills so as to represent the country at the international level. There was a long wait for such Centre for the youth and AIFF finally took a step towards its development so as to raise our standards at the International level.
