The Cyprus International Film Festival (abbreviated as CYIFF) is an annual film festival that is held in Cyprus. The festival takes place in Pafos and Nicosia and is held in cooperation with Cultural International Festivals. The CYIFF is conducted since 2006 as an independent non profit organisation. It is the first international film festival held in the island country with a "competition section" in categories such as short, animation, feature, humanitarian, sport etc. and the films are completely dedicated to independent emerging filmmakers.
The festival is inspired by a group of dedicated individuals, event organizers, cinema experts, film producers, multimedia and audio visual specialists. The festival provides young aspiring directors a wonderful opportunity to present their work and receive recognition through the many awards offered during the festival. The event runs annually every September/October since 2006 and has gained worldwide media attention. The Cyprus International Film Festival receives film submission from approximately 95 countries.
The festival is now taking entries for their event this year. The films should be produced within the past 36 months and must be premiered in Cyprus. The categories of the films include feature films for up to 120 minutes and short films for up to 20 minutes.
